Abstract
Excavationsat Legiorecovered flat roof tiles (tegulae),ridge tiles (imbrices), bricksand floor tiles. Ten of thesefragments bear Roman legionary stamps in Latin:Legio VI Ferrata andLegio II Traiana.Stamps of this kind attestto a Roman military presence at the site. Petrographic analysisof the fragments containing legionary stampsshows that they were produced from localraw materials, thusconfirming the existence of a pottery workshopnear the legion’s permanent garrison at Legio.
