Abstract
In this paper, I discuss domestic neighborhoods with an insula-like character from the Iron Age Southern Levant. I relate to these neighborhoods considering urban planning of the Iron Age, Iron Age domestic structures, and the underlying mechanisms and socio-political structures that brought about their construction. Within these contexts, neighborhoods of various types existed, including insula-like neighborhoods, and it is the latter that I will attempt to explain. Finally, I will stress the importance of neighborhoods in archaeological research, and the need for archaeologists working in the Southern Levant to place more emphasis on their study.
