Abstract
In January–February 1965, salvage excavations were conducted at Khirbat Sharta and Khirbat Sharatti, near Kefar Ata (presently Qiryat Ata; map ref. 212/746), following the discovery of a burial cave during ground leveling. The excavations, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, were directed by A. Ovadya. Khirbat Sharta and Khirbat Sharatti are located on two hills facing each other. In 1967, another excavation was conducted at Khirbat Sharta following the discovery of an additional burial cave that was dated to the Byzantine period.
