Abstract

In 1949, a salvage excavation was conducted on the eastern slopes of Khirbat Ibreiktâs, south of Hadera Railway Station (map ref. 1896–9/7037–40). The excavation was conducted following the construction of the new railway line. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by J. Ory. Four burial caves were exposed. The caves, which had been hewn on two levels of the kurkar slope, were damaged during the paving of the railway line. Several shaft tombs were discovered, which were filled with alluvium up to their ceiling.
