Abstract

In November–December 1964, a salvage excavation was conducted in Givat Yesha’ayahu, following the discovery of two burial caves during the digging of a basement on a private plot (map ref. unknown). The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by O. Negbi. Each of the caves included a vertical shaft and two chambers. In the first cave, a number of skeletons were found in a state of disintegration, as well as dozens of complete pottery vessels, a stone mortar, cosmetics vessels made of faience and a scarab. The cave was dated to the Middle Bronze Age 2.
