About This Journal
Cornerstone (حجر الزاوية) is an Arabic-language journal conferred to the study of archaeological sites. The journal was founded in 2018 as a private initiative by a group of archaeologists and researchers from the Israel Antiquities Authority. It is unique and first of its kind, presenting archaeological sites from all periods, archaeological excavations, and new and original archaeological research. Each issue publishes articles written by leading scholars and experts working in a wide range of fields in archaeology and conservation.
The journal is published twice a year by the Israel Antiquities Authority, under the academic auspices of Tel Hai College. It is printed in color and in high graphic quality. The articles provide important and unique information, presenting to Arabic-speaking readers the latest developments in the study of the past.
The journal is printed in hundreds of copies and distributed to libraries of academic institutions, research institutions, as well as to tour guides and field-study teachers within the education system. Each article includes an English abstract, enabling the journal to be catalogued in academic databases and libraries worldwide.
The journal is edited by Dr. Walid Atrash, a senior researcher and excavator at the Israel Antiquities Authority, together with an editorial board of archaeologists of the Israel Antiquities Authority. We believe that the journal contributes to fostering values of love for the land, education and the preservation of antiquities and heritage sites.
