About This Journal

Hadashot Arkheologiyot – Excavations and Surveys in Israel (HA-ESI) has been published in print since 1961, and contains preliminary reports of excavations and surveys conducted in Israel by the Israel Antiquities Authority and other excavation expeditions, as well as final reports of small-scale excavations and surveys by the Israel Antiquities Authority; it also publishes archaeological finds recorded during inspection activities. The journal is bilingual, Hebrew and English; reports submitted in English are translated into Hebrew and vice versa. All content published in the journal is open access and provides a broad data base for current archaeological research. The journal volumes were printed until 2004 (Vol. 116), and from that year onwards they are published in a digital edition on the journal's website. The digital edition is a vast database of excavation reports, accompanied by illustrations: photographs, plans and tables.

All authors submitting papers to HA-ESI assign the Israel Antiquities Authority the right to: Publish their work online. Process illustrations in accordance with the journal's style. Distribute their work through third parties. Promote their work via social media and other media channels, such as television, radio, newspapers, etc. The author(s) are entitled to: Be credited as the author(s) of the article. Present the article in lectures, classes, meetings and conferences. Distribute copies of the article on a non-commercial basis. Post the article on a departmental or personal website or in institutional repositories.
