Abstract

In October 1965, a salvage excavation was conducted in Tirat Zvi (map ref. unknown), following the discovery of a burial cave during the laying of a water line in a vegetable shed. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by N. Zori. The cave, which was oval in shape, was found filled with earth. No ancient remains were discovered. According to the excavator, the discovery of three burial caves in the same area in the Kibbutz several years earlier corroborated the assertion that this cave was a burial cave. One of the three caves was dated to the Early Bronze Age and the other two to the Iron Age.
